My V4S gave me a 'High' coolant temperature warning yesterday. I had been riding pretty hard for 25-30 mins, a lot of 2nd,3rd gear stuff in the French mountains. I was only a few miles from home so just stuck it on a higher gear and let airflow do it's thing. The warning went away after about a minute and the indicator on the dash returned to the mid level shortly after. With bike stone cold today and fairings off I find the expansion tank half full of coolant. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be right down the bottom between min and max when cold There is no coolant in the left expansion tank and I can see the rad is full after removing the cap Not sure what to think - could it be the dealer over filled in error and this is someway is affecting things after a good tonking, or indicative of a bigger problem? There doesn't appear to be any coolant dropped or leakage visible anywhere. Grateful for any help ! Grateful for any help !
Just thought I'd update this in case it's helpful to anyone further down the line. MotoRapido serviced my bike recently and I asked them to investigate this whilst it was with them. One of the rad fans had packed up - no specific reason, may have overheated was a poss suggestion. So if you suffer from a similar problem with your V4 check fan both fans are operating.
Interesting, although the reservoir shouldn’t be that full. I run it at the low level. Three days on track recently and it didn’t budge from the low marker.
