Had a 1098 cps from eBay and it just doesn't look right to fit in the apeture. The sensor seems to have a collar or shank toward the wire end. Also the shim stops at this said collar. I have a c shaped shim with a tab as is usual. The guy I bought it of is cool for a refund as he says he ha sent got any other sort. Point me in the right detection please. Here's the pics of the one I bought. This last one is upside down sorry. It's the cps hole. I take it I need different size shims to set the 0.6mm gap? A photo of the right one would be helpful. Cheers in advance.
Hiya, there's some good info here....from @Derek . Alternatives to the Genuine Ducati Parts! | Page 2 | Ducati Forum Timing/crank sensors for the later bikes with a single hole fixing. Equivalents are ; ALFA ROMEO : 77872560 FACET : 9.0053 FIAT: 55187333, 7787256, 77872560 HELLA : 6PU 009 146-121 HERTH+BUSS ELPARTS : 70610010 LANCIA : 77872560 MAGNETI MARELLI : 4820171010 MAPCO : 82002 METZGER : 0902034 QUINTON HAZELL : XREV153 VDO : 324003014R VEMO : V24-72-0011 I've not tried these, although I did have to reshim mine once, I made shims for mine from plastic food trays. :Sorry:
Doesn't look right. The 1098 sensor cable should come out in line, not at 90 degrees. The correct sensor is the same as late 748/996 etc. 999's, SS's etc. I think the sensor nose is longer than the one in the pics. For info, the genuine part is £66 + VAT. There are alternative sources as well, but IMO I'd only replace with new one. That way you know it's right.
