Correct Springs

  1. Can someone either confirm or correct me ?
Iv set my rear rider sag and as a result have no static sag, does this mean my spring is rated to soft for my weight and I require a harder / stiffer spring ?

  2. What is the rear static sag? It should be around 10mm.

    The front, I reckon about 26 - 28mm.

  3. Ammm the rear static sag is zero

  4. Are you checking it right (apologies for asking)?

Bike upright, lifting the rear up and letting it down - measure the drop.

If you have done all that, I woud be inclined to recheck rider sag - but it sounds to me as though you are one heavy bugger and yes, another stiffer spring - I got on well with a Hyperpro one which came with a knackered Showa for miy SS.

  5. I'm 16 stone of pure furry ( hairy ) without leathers. Twin ohlins shocks. With the rider sag around 40 mm iv about two mm of static

  6. Have a look in the owners handbook - they sometimes give what Ducati 'think' are the 'normal' weights for rider and bike - my SS allowed for a 70kg rider (leathered etc) - well that's only 11+ stone - you can easily knock of 1+ stone for leathers etc.

The rider sag on my SS when I was 12 stone + leathers was only about 30mm and static was 10mm.

It does seem to me your springs could be stiffer.
