Cycling Accident

  1. February 9TH 2014 0930am sunday morning , i got knocked off my push bike by a car that didn't see me when pulling out of a junction :( bastard has changed my life . His insurance company has admitted liability , but things are taking so long to sort out , i just can't see an end to this nightmare , aswell as my carbon fibre road bike being a write off , i also have had 1 knee operation with no success as the pain is getting worse , ankle pain and now my other knee starting to hurt, whilst compensating for not walking properly , i have now been diagnosed with severe depression and i have now got anger issues since the accident :( our family life and my exercising and social life has been turned upside down . I have been told that my knee could need replacing but apparently i'm to young so i might be stuck with this pain for a while .
Not after any sympathy but just like to point out we are all here only once and we should take care on our roads and look out for each other ;) be it cyclist, pedestrian, horse rider, or any other road user.

  2. Have you had your pelvis checked?
Mine is out of alignment and makes my knees hurt, Physio gave me a way of "clicking it back in" I wonder if you have knocked your pelvis out when falling?

Depression is a cow especially after an accident make sure you keep talking and try anger management just to get through that pent up frustration

I wish you all the positivity to get you through this and out the other end :)

  3. Cheers, i have to see a physcologist every friday but still seems to be no light :( just frustrating and angry , not sure how much compensation i will be due , but that will mean little as to what he has taken away from me as i was a Age Grouper GB triathlete :(

  4. Deepest sympathies....I feel for you...nearly lost an arm a while back...not good.

@Ducbird careful what you say, you know what the locals are like.
Not heard it called "clicking" before.

  5. I hear you and I can understand to some extent
I have limited range in my shoulders I used to weight train and keep fit
I don't think I will get to sky dive again :(

Are there other ways to get into being a triathlete with your "disability" never give up look at those guys and gals who have lost limbs etc
Don't let mr idiot ruin everything for you show him that your life WILL go on in other ways

    :)

  8. I have yet to get on my motorbike since my accident I have lost all confidence
I couldn't even go near one or touch one my fear was that great
Now I have conquered that and I have one in my back garden but that's as far as it's gone
    :(

  9. I certainly know how you are feeling :(

  10. I can understand your not feeling comfortable / safe on the roads now so have you not considered mountain / off road cycling , it is great fun ....I dont know about your level of fitness but if you can do road cycling then you should cope

  11. We will get there see we are not alone in all this and we have the mad locals to keep us sane
    ;)

  17. :upyeah:Firstly, sorry to hear of your plight. 1996 I bust my ankle falling off a climb that nearly killed me, but two years later after immense agony I returned to the same climb to complete the route, a great day that was. The point I am making is the human body has terrific powers of recovery and being as this episode is recent for you, please do not throw the towel in yet and give the whole experience time to acclimatise.

I wish you all the best:upyeah:

  18. Time is a great healer. No matter how rubbish things are/seem.never give in.It may look as though there is no light at the end of the tunnel, but one day you will see it.All the best.

  19. There are no short-cuts to feeling better.
The depression and anger you can defeat, but only if you know you can do it.
Your physical injuries will heal in time, the body is surprisingly resilient.

All best wishes for a very complete recovery.

  20. Had my ankle shattered (pilon fracture) in oct 2012, it took a year to properly walk, bouts of uncontrollable anger (not aimed at anyone just mood swings). Depression & pushing family/friends away. Now things have calmed down just try not too rely on pain-medication as it leads of addiction & be positive.
