A while back I drilled and tapped the solid section of my 900SS Aluminium swingarm so I could bolt some paddock stand bobbins to it and was/am happy with that. Whilst looking for something else last night I came across the picture below, and thought 'that looks trick' I'll machine up some of those in the morning for my 900. I did of course realise that it looks like a 1000DS swingarm, so I'd have to machine the stops out of the back of my 900SS arm to extend the adjuster blocks backwards. This morning when I though about it again I of course realised that with the bobbins on the adjuster plates, and the bike being held up by them, you can't remove the back wheel! I wonder if the guy who posted the image on a US forum realised that before or after he'd done all the work? Nasher
Someone is a t*t - should have asked someone who had recently fitted an ally swingarm to their SS. Besides, even if it did work, it would put undue stress on the chain marker ribs because they aren't that thick and strong.
I had a paddock stand which had the two U shaped channels which loacted under the swingarm legs - padded the channels with rubber so they didn't mark the swingarm.
If it's like the Gilles gixer ones I had, they act as captive spacers, so you don't move them when the wheel is out. Simply undo, slide out axle, remove chain and holds everything in place
They do have a habit of moving about a bit if the rubber isn't on properly, and on non even ground sliding along the swingarm. Which means you have to sling yourself under a falling 179 kg motorbike. Don't ask how a I know Another reason to use bobbins
So............you not only fell off your bike, but you also let the bike fall on you....... ......I don't know....................never make being a professional I guess.
It never fell on me. I may have thrown myself under it, like you would saving a baby from a speeding runaway truck
