After many years, my trusty Ducati branded jacket made by Dainese, is literally beginning to come apart at the seams. It’s worn throughout the year and in all weathers so it’s no surprise. My criteria for a replacement were, made from good quality leather, met at least the latest AA, full garment rating, has level 2 shoulder and elbow armour and has a removable, long sleeved, thermal lining. You would have thought, easy, should be plenty to choose from. Surprisingly, there are not and of those that I did manage to physically try on, the quality and fit was disappointing. I’d like to commend the staff at Infinity Farnborough for their patience and perseverance whilst I faffed around before settling on the Avro 5. A word of caution though, if you are considering buying a Dainese jacket, I found the latest sizing a lot smaller than my current jacket. I’ve hovered around an EU 58 size for a good few years but despite having lost a bit of weight recently, I thought I’d order an EU 60, expecting there to be a bit more room so I can wear a jumper as well when it’s really cold. Somebody must have been having a laugh, I eventually had to order the largest size Dainese offer in the Avro 5, an EU 64. It’s a nice jacket and I’m very pleased (and now skint for the rest of the month). Andy
