916 Dating A Frame

  1. I know the frame material changed after a couple of years on the 916 but does anyone confirm if there is any way of dating a frame via any specific characteristic when it's bereft of a VIN? Eg. thickness of tubing, measurements etc.

  2. frame date is stamped into the rear top bar of the frame above the shock mount
