My 750ss sailed straight through the MoT this morning after an obscenely small number of miles this year. A combination of bad weather last summer when I had time, and the arrival of the Multistrada. It is such a physically beautiful thing but also feels so good to ride, BUT, the Multistrada does everything it does and better really. Apart from a really twisty road maybe. The other aspect is that I miss having a project. The problem I have is that I don’t have space for another bike so if I want a project something has to give. But I spent a fortune on getting the 750ss bang on, new tyres, brakes, carbs refurbed, modified clutch to make it lighter etc etc etc and I know they don’t exactly fly off the shelves anyway. I also passionately hate selling bikes and finding a swap is always tricky (never once managed it yet). So what should I do? Keep it and enjoy those few amazing blasts on a beautiful day? Or attempt to trade for something else more project like? Or try to sell?
for me this might have been a decision that was closer to 50/50, but unless you are happy to take a massive hit, this looks like a really bad time to sell with the way the market is, despite it being the best time of year to try and do that. Why not just put it out there for sale if you decide on this course, and see what offers you get? I think you might be underwhelmed regardless of its beauty and value, but hope that I am wrong.
I think you are 100% right about being underwhelmed by interest in it. Seen so many nice bikes around for sale at sensible money and not selling. Plus, as I said I despise selling bikes, the tyre kickers, no shows etc etc. I guess I could put an ad on here as I would expect people on here are a better bunch. Looking at others for sale, I think I would be lucky to see £2500 on a VERY good day and probably £2200 is more realistic, or sub £2000 if I want a quick sale. The best of those would be a few hundred loss. I dunno…….
