I know my Mutley's DES is working because about 500 miles ago I configured Touring mode down to 100hp and changed from Urban to Touring. I was amazed by the transformation. Within a few metres I could feel how much more solid the bike felt and the braking and acceleration are much smoother in terms of suspension response. V happy. Oddly though my bike doesn't have any luggage/load settings. I think this may be related to a software/config issue that my specialist seems to have accidentally partially fixed, which was that i had no DES config items and my heated grips didn't work. Now DES works but without the load/luggage settings and my lovely heated grips rarely get a rest. I'm almost sure that this isn't operator error - check out the pics of the menu items and the manual, which don't match. Any ideas?
I can never remember how I change my luggage settings it is always hit and miss for me, I get it eventually never the same way though
Select the mode you want, wait for the screen to show the mode (sport/touring etc.) then press and hold in the LHS button. That should after about 4-5 seconds bring up the load setting screen, select what you want and it should then select that setting.
Jimbo, was it there previously, or has your man loaded the wrong ecu configuration ? Personally I would be looking to take the bike to a good main dealer, compare it with their demo bike, and get them to check it. Then go hit the supplying dealer with whatever is required to get it sorted. No idea where you are (think your Surrey / London from what you posted elsewhere), or who supplied it, post up and maybe we can recommend places to try.
It's never been there. My specialist didn't do anything specific to fix it but I do know that the grips suddenly started working after the last time I took it there to fit an iPhone charger and some other stuff, which involved disconnecting the battery, so perhaps that reset something. I'm West London. My specialist is waiting for a call back from Ducati and should get an answer when he's back from holiday next week. Depending on what happens I'll either take it to my local Ducati main dealer (Metropolis) or my specialist will be able to fix it with answer from Ducati.
Super dumb question but when you say LHS button, do you mean left indicator? When I'm riding around mine says the mode but doesn't display the head/luggage symbol, so i'm guessing it's just not active in the config.
Yes the indicator cancel button. Sounds like you have a problem if yours isn't even showing a head for a single rider. Sounds like you have the software from a Base bike with a half arsed upgrade to the DES version? Agree with above - get it to a proper Ducati main dealer for a diagnostic and software update. You can't be sure you even have the latest fuelling maps in yours (helps low speed hunting)?
Yes The grey button on the indicator switch on LHS, if no head / luggage shown at any time then the software is wrong. As suggested before take it to a real Ducati Dealer, I would suggest Pro Twins in Godstone.
Pretty sure this was already covered in another post regarding you missing options from your system - the bikes software is wrong, take it to a Ducati dealer and get it sorted. Your "specialist" as you putting it frankly sounds like an amateur with a set of spanners who shouldn't be messing with your £16K bike if he doesn't know what he is doing! Even my trusted mechanic with decades of experience building race bikes doesn't want to mess with the electronics of my MTS - completely out of the range of his equipment and knowledge (he recommended Luigi Moto if I want anything done independently, and rightly so) I am a little concerned what has been going on with your bike historically though too, why would someone tamper with the options available on the bike in the first place? It doesn't sound like something a Ducati mechanic would just "mess about with" for the sake of it
Managed to take her into Pro Twins yesterday. Absolutely top guys and I had to have a cold shower after walking around their showroom. Anyway, i'm pleased to report that i am not going mad - they hadn't seen this issue before and were fascinated. They think my bike has the non-Sport dash for some reason. Fortunately the bike is still under warranty (just), so they are going to try to correct it under warranty. They can't understand how the wrong dash got on there in the first place but are going to speak to the people who serviced it before I bought it to see if they can get to the root cause. I'm also hoping that it's not too late to extend my warranty (I didn't know this was an option), so I'll hear back about that from Pro Twins on Monday too. Really like the guys at Pro Twins - i'm a convert. Thanks very much sir.
Awesome. Sounds like dash repl under warranty and wrong one fitted, although never knew there were different types
Officially you are not supposed to be able to take out the extended warranty later that 18 months after registration and I believe it is only supposed to be available to the first owner. However I have also heard that some dealers are willing to bend the rules. Fingers crossed...
The policy has changed a little. Whilst you still need to be the first owner you can take out the extended warranty up to month 23 now.
Psy69 is correct, sort of, you must purchase (pay) for the extended warranty upgrade and have it put on the Ducati system within the 22nd Month since first registration. Source ProTwins (Peter).
