Diavel 1260s Or Monster 1200s

  1. Looking for options from those that have hopefully had both. I have a diavel 1260s and love the bike but at the dealers yesterday to book some service time and spotted the monster 1200s and really like the look of that bike.

I am not looking to change but which is the better bike, I am a fair weather rider these days, have ridden all year round in the past and ran jap inline 4’s. Have been riding triumphs for a few years mostly speed triples with the odd street or tiger for a change.

The diavel is a big bike and not just in weight which I must admit I didn’t notice and it’s easy enough to move around but it takes up a load of space in the garage it’s so long (but still shorter than the triumph rocket 3 that I originally ordered before cancelling and swapping to the diavel).

Like I said I am interested to hear options, not sure yet if I want to swap but the thought is growing. Did look at the KTM 1290 and the new speed triple but I think and it’s only my opinion that the monster is a nicer looking bike. I don’t care about hp or top end, to old and like my license to much for that. Just want a bike to ride and enjoy.

    thanks

  2. Monster 1200’s are epic fun on the road. The S and R models have Ohlins front and rear and great engines, pretty comfortable too. East to plod around on or more brisk rides.

can’t see me swapping my R for anything in the foreseeable future!

  3. Subjective as to which bike is best. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Have a ride and see which one gives more smiles per miles.
I took the Monster 1200S out back to back with an Xdiavel. Both very different bikes and both awesome but in their own way. I found the Monster a little cramped so couldn’t imagine doing big miles per ride
I’ve not long been an owner of a 1260S. I absolutely love it. Can happily plod around, cruise control is the business but when you want to gas it it’s an instant grin, the torque the sound, huge comfy seat.

  4. I've had and loved both. both are incredibly capable and would offer more than enough for you by the sound of it. go with your gut. if you fancy a change go for it.

  5. I've had both. I actually think the monster was more comfortable and did euro trips on it. Now got the 1260 and really liking it. probably more to do with what you lust after..... plus we all like a change!!!
