I attempted to ride out of the office car park with disc lock on despite orange forget-me-not cable a few weeks ago. I learned that the picking up dropped bike technique my other half was taught on the BMW off-road skills course really does work! (Not the usual "back to the bike" technique, but point front wheel up, grab lower handlebar, bend the knees and heave - jolly hard work, but weedy little me was able to get bike upright again on my own - good job as I was working late and there was no-one else around to help.) A friend attempted to ride out of the underground car park at our WDW hotel with the disc lock on, and succeeded in dropping the bike in such a way that his head was wedged between it and a concrete pillar and had to remove lid before he could squeeze out of the space ...
Dropped my old VFR VTEC TWICE in one day due to having fitted bar muffs & not being able to fit the reminder cable to the bars... Needless to say - despite the minus10 temps the muffs came off! Amazing how quickly you can pick a bike up when it goes down. Your calipers/forks ok, Dave?
Bit late, but I've been looking at these 'cos apparently the front wheel won't move so you can't drive off and clunk ! RoadLoK - Simply Secure
Even if you unbolt the caliper, the pin is still locked in place on the disk like a conventional disc lock. And you don't need any where to put it when your on your way. I looked at these a while ago and was impressed!
Yep thanks just the front huger is a bit dented, being carbon i should be able to fix it with some clear resin.
