Dislike, Disagree, Nuke Usage

  1. As a relatively new member to the forum I'd like to get the skinny on using the posting feedback icons available.

    So, if I like a posting I can choose the 'Like' icon, or if I find a posting useful I can click the 'Useful' or even the 'Thanks' icon. All this is great and I fully understand their use. It's the negative feedback options and the etiquette of their use that I'd like explained.

    An example, if someone says 'I like red and not yellow' I can click the 'Disagree' icon if I prefer yellow, but so what? Some people prefer red over yellow, which is fine, but does this mean I can click 'Disagree' for every single post I disagree with, or even more extreme, can I click the 'Nuke' icon if I really don't like yellow?

    It seems to me that by over using, or misusing these icons when giving serious feedback they lose some of their usefulness. Am I being too timid? Should I be using them at every opportunity? Or should I only use negative feedback when backing it up with some info?

    Interested in hearing what people think.

  8. The useful icon was originally a 'spanner' symbol but was changed a couple of years ago to a 'fan' because of Air Con. It was widely used at the time to tell people they were a 'tool'. Indeed many members still use it with that intent even now :Angelic:

  16. To be fair a lot of tablet uses and phone users accidentally Nuke when scrolling......
    You should see some of the hand bag throwing that has gone on in the past.
