Does A Sporting Personality's Signature Add Resale Value To A Part ?

  1. Thread title pretty much says it all. When I collected my 1098R, the bike was fitted with a (spare) petrol tank that has been signed by Neil Hodgson. I'm confident that it is genuine and whilst I know he is an ex British (2000) and World (2003) Superbike champion, can his autograph really add to the value of the basic tank ? As I'm going to have the track bodywork resprayed, I'm wondering if it's worth the hassle of flogging the tank and buying another one or just get it resprayed with the other panels. Andy

  2. Minimal value I think, £10-£20?
My Busa is signed by John Reynolds, Chris Walker and Guy Martin - not sure why, although Chris said it made his Superbike feel like a shopping trolley after riding it :)
Regarding the 1098R, maybe a Fila Rep 999 would have benefited from it a little more.

  3. In this case I can't see that it would add any value - get it sprayed :)

  4. Hodgson Neil [AGSNH1]
16x12 photo hand signed by British Superbikes Icon Neil Hodgson. Autographed extremely clear in black.
    £ 30.00 (Sport & Star Autographs | Autographs | Superbikes )

  5. Worth less than a standard tank in my eyes. It's basically graffiti. :Meh:

The only exception would have been if the bike was a 996 Hodgson rep.

  9. Look on the bright side, it could have been signed by Steve Parrish and Charlie Cox.

  10. I have an SS seat cowl signed by foggy and whit :)

  11. I was at a 'drunken' end of BSB season party one year that held a charity auction, lots of great items like John McGuinness' 130 mph lap record helmet etc etc. I was shitfaced and won a sketch of Jamie Whittam and funnily enough JW was the personality doing the auction so offered to sign it as I went to collect it, in my pissed up state replied "fuck off don't want to spoil it" in front of a whole bar full of fans.
