Hi, need some advice. restoring a 996, but it never had any air filter so I'm struggling to know what to put in there? It has carbon air intake ducts that dont seal perfectly or clip to the airbox, so I dont think I can use the filters that go in the ducts as they will leak some unfiltered air at the sides of the air box. I have seen Pipercross filters that looks like they fit over the trumpets directly and sit under the tank. Can anyone confirm this is the best option? or any other recommendations? tks
I have BMC air filters on my 748. Requires a small modification to the air box to attach the filter frame but easy DIY. https://www.bmcairfilters.com/en/products/replacement-filters/bike/panel/fm324-19. Andy
I use the pipercross over trumpet filter. Some say they cost power. Perhaps it does but I couldn't feel a difference. It's easy and definitely filters the air well.
agree, most efficient solution but would like to learn where people buy them from these days or has anyone bought any recently, and what cost? BMC Code:- FM324/19
