hi all im in great need of some advice,, I took my 748 to cadwell park yesterday and cannot get smooth due to the clutch. coming of park straight in to a right hander I know what gear I want to be in 2nd and the back wheel locks up sliding where I actually need to be tipped in can some one who did or still does race these advise if a slipper clutch will make a huge difference on these bikes and if so what type to get and where from.. it was that bad I felt rough instead of smooth so I went and got my vfr400 out which is smooth also if im going to get the most out of my Ducati track wise will some one please advise me on what route to take will appreciate any advise
Sounds lie you need a slipper in there. Loads to choose from..... The early DP ones (ramp only, no balls) are a bit agricultural.

If you mean faster...the cheapest way is bigger engine/bike/853 conversion/engine, maybe? You can spend zillions on engine work/fueling and still be only a little up. If yr doing lots of track days just look on ebay for a slipper, that will/should sort yr back wheel lock-up.
As you've heard a slipper clutch would make a big difference, but a bit more clutch control is a lot cheaper. Don't get me wrong, my track 996 has one and i wouldn't take it off, but i never had the problem on my 748. On my road stuff without a slipper i love using the clutch to control engine braking like a rear brake. Need to be shifting a bit though.
I got a slipper from JHP or my 748, and never looked back.... It does need stripping a cleaning every now and then, else it starts to grab a bit and looses the feel and can step the back out a bit... Down park straight at Cadwell, down three gears in a nano second and let the clutch straight out. Lovely, but must remember not to try that on the 848 as no slipper fitted... [I'd swap it onto the 848 if it were not a wet clutch...]
