Ducati 996 8 Pot Calipers : Spiegler

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by torquenuts, Oct 5, 2022.

  1. Just bought a 996 with aftermarket Spiegler S8B 8 pot calipers on front.

Any experience with these ... are a German brand.

I'm looking to replace the pads with EBC .... but I can only find Ferodo FDB2034PR or CL 2919.
CL is Carnone Lorraine ... a french brand.

    Any thoughts / experiences ?

  2. Welcome. Why don’t you introduce yourself properly in the newbies section too please?

  3. you will be safe with Carbone Lorraine if same std as 10 years ago, well made and best performing pads I ever used.
Only my opinion but would put back to std calipers or 4 pot anyway.

  4. Agree, CL pads are/were stonking when used to anchor up a 500+hp car I had.

  5. Thanks .

I've seen many complain about the std calipers hence the many threads about upgrades.

4 pots from a 999 with good pads seem most sensible.
Cheap to buy, direct fit, wide pad choice and easy to get rebuild kit.
    Would you agree ?

PS : I'll have to do it when I bring the bike back to UK as here in Switzerland everything must be certified - hence the previous owner probably only had Spiegler as an upgrade choice.

  6. that's certainly one possible alternative, and there are many people on here who will help with all the specifications to ensure a caliper from a different model will fit. e.g. - disc offset and diameter. :upyeah:

  7. 4 pots from 999 or 996R etc are direct fit using standard disc offsets.

  8. I have the 996r 4 pot callipers, coupled with HPK discs and Z04 pads the stopping power is superb.

  9. Agree. Had that combo plus RCS19 on my SPS - excellent set up.

  10. Yes me too, I have the RCS19. It really is an excellent setup. The Z04 are expensive though, as it's 4 pads per caliper.
