Is it just me or does this system suck big black dog's wanger?! Anyhoo, rhetorical rant aside. Advice is required. I have just spent a cold hour in the Garage with my IT guru, Male Child No2. My phone is a Motorola G8 running Andriod 11. It is 2nd hand and perhaps 4-5 years old. I have the Ducati Connect & Sygic apps on it. We managed to pair the two on the WIFI/Bluetooth connection. I am getting Battery Charge level and Reception Signal Icons on my bike dashboard home screen at the top near the fuel indicator level. I can operate navigation and phone by way of the joy stick, but not fully. I can get stored music off my phone to play using the joy stick, but not fully. What I can't get is the phone control icons on my dashboard to be able to see, at a glance on the home screen, the status of the music without diving into the screen apps and operating the phone through it. What I wish to achieve: I really want to be able to operate my Spotify through the bike by way of the phone but it doesn't want to play ball and we cannot figure out why. The other issue is that the "Music" & "Phone" options on the scrolling home menu are not becoming highlighted so remain inactive, and we can't figure that out either! Boy child recons the root cause of the issue is that my phone is "too old". I responded that he's a cheeky bastard and the the phone is brilliant and eminently suited to the task; however I suspect he may be right. So any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated. Cheers in advance BTD
It seems Android 10.0 or newer is recommended , or IOS 16 or newer with a iphone , so in theory you should be good to go .
Cheers for that mate, handy piece of intel. The problem is really I am a bit of a luddite. I've had the Rally for a year now and have only now got round to utilising all the tech properly, or trying to at least; most of it is wasted on me, but it makes for good bragging rights with ma Pals. I cant even turn on the fuckin' spot lights FFS! And being a middle aged heterosexual white male I'll be pumped through me figure hugging harley chaps if I refer to the manual! I even had Ducati Manchester's handy U-tube guide up on the new man cave TV for guidance and followed it precisely but he was getting stuff I wasn't!. I suppose the next option would be to go to Ducati Glasgow (Again) and ask them to show me, but then I may as well walk in with a Big, "Feckin' useless country bumpkin again" sign hanging round my neck. At 56 YOA I've not got much dignity left but I'd like to preserve what little remains.
You need to get yourself to your nearest owners club meeting and casually start asking for some info , I have found that my local Ducati owners club is full of middle aged males who like to keep their dignity but who really don't mind admitting they are luddites amongst ourselves .
I don’t believe it will play Spotify at all. I believe you can only play music that’s actually stored on your phone. Press and hold for 3 secs the DRL light button under the start button, right hand switch gear. If you toggle that button, ie press & release, you toggle between having your lights on in auto mode or off. When fog lights are fitted (and activated) you need a long press (3secs) of the button to turn them on, and same to turn them off. The rest of it I can’t help you with without being with the bike & your phone.
