Ducati Ecu Software Options

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by HootOwl, Jan 12, 2020.

  1. Hey guys
    I just bought a Multi 1200 DVT (15).
Is there any independent software out there that will run on a laptop and access the ECU, at least for making minor setting adjustments. Not particularly looking for complex processes.
I've had a couple of Triumphs in the past and used the TuneECU system, along with a suitable OBD connector.
It was good for reading/resetting fault codes, correcting speedo errors, loading maps etc.

What (if anything) is the best option for a 2015 Duke as above please ?

  2. Google, jpdiag, not sure if this will be suitable for your bike but have a look for yourself and see what you think.

  3. Im not sure if this will work on your bike but ive just accessed mine today with guzzidiag , mine is a 97 916 showing air temp , air pressure, revs , TPS voltage , TPS degrees and more. I think they use the same ECU in varies models but im no expert. obviously your bike is a lot newer but maybe worth a try.

  4. I've also got a 2015 1200S.

Jpdiag / Melcodiag does work but in a limited capacity. You can access, read and delete error codes. You cannot reset service indicator or desmo service. i think you can reset the pin code - have not tried it yet.

You need to purchase the following two cables:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ducati-Multistrada-Motorbike-Plug-Adaptor-for-Software-OBD2-OBD-Can-Diagnostic/133242783418?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/USB-ELM327-OBD2-Car-Code-Scanner-Automotive-For-PC-V1-5-With-FTDI-FT232RL-Chip/254000101234?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&var=553331044502&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

make sure to get the cable with the FT232RL chip in description

    Go to https://jpdiag.akress.com/

download the melcodiag software. Install, plug in, obtain licence key from him, happy days (It's freeware bu the way)

There is a good post on the forum section of the website that explains what to do as your first steps

    http://jpdiag.xooit.eu/t1893-Getting-Started-with-Ducatidiag.htm

There's also a few Youtubes explaining what to do

    search for melcodiag

It's been well worth it. I had a DSS error on my dash. The error code clearly described the frt accelerometer cable had a ground connection making fault finding very easy.

  5. That is a great help - thankyou. :)

I was hoping for the service light reset, but it is what it is I guess. Perhaps it will come along later.
