Over the last two days I have completely wasted seven hours of my time trying to insure the 1199. Swinton, Devitt, Carol Naseh and Bikesure. Bikesure, not for the first time in my experience, misquoted the policy and later added the stipulation that the bike had to have a cat1 tracker and immobiliser as well as having a mechanical immobiliser fitted at all times. This came through only when I received a written policy and was in direct contradiction to what was confirmed by the salesperson on the phone. Devitt simply couldn't find the bike whilst Carole Nash were as pathetic as to ask for the size of the air vents in my garage wall and also for how many hours a day someone would be at home. I had to tell them of every single bike that I had owned for the last 10 years. The salesperson at Carole Nash simply knew nothing about motorbikes. They would not accept that non-standard ducati performance brake levers were not a performance enhancing component. Swinton - well just forget it. And as for asking about Termis with any of the above - well just forget that too. I could go on for ages. With each of them senior sales staff had to deal with the particular bike. The whole saga with Carole Nash and Bikesure alone took 2.5hrs today and that was just them just attempting to finalise their quotes. Carole Nash became absolutely desperate in the end and literally begged me to take the policy having dropped it from £1700 to £1095 in the course of about 10 minutes. Then I remembered Ducati insurance services. Within 12 minutes of phoning the quotation process was complete. Everything catered for without any problem whatsoever. A draft of the policy was emailed through immediately and the actual certificate once executed followed suit in the same manner. It's fair to say I could scarcely believe it. I received the quotation, came back with a number of questions about enhancements to both policy and the bike and accepted the cover all within half an hour. There was no nitpicking with the details and the policy itself is far less draconian than anything the competition has to offer. They dealt with my rather peculiar accident history without any problems whatsoever whereas the same accidents left all of the other insurers floundering. The fact that I am studying a masters degree part time at the moment for some reason pushed every other quote that I received upwards. Ducati Insurance were a huge breath of fresh air I have to say and the personnel made a complete change from dealing with the kids who man the phones and have to ask for guidance every two minutes at just about every other bike insurer. After dealing with the other showers I was genuinely taken aback by the level of service with ducati insurance. I have to say I was mightily impressed.
I had a very similar story, I used to be with them probably seven/eight years ago, they still had all of my details, able to cope with my medical situation, three bikes (two BMWs) and dropped their price when I offered to fit a tracker. Today I phoned them to change a bike, which involves various registration plate changes including changing it again in a few weeks time, yes sir no problem. Such a pleasant change.
Two lousy claims hammer my premium. For that reason my insurance has always been sky high. 28 riding a Kawasaki zx10 with 1 yrs no claims and no claims was much cheaper than any insurance I buy now.
£780. Big difference was the standard security system. Robots at the other insurers stipulated cat 1 etc and just didn't understand the bike at all. My Brand new KTM RC8R this year with draconian restrictions on the policy was £950 or so I think by way of comparison.
I used to use insurers such as some sponsors for BSB,but what a terrible experience with a non fault claim. Ducati insurance insured me in the same efficient and uncomplicated way that 1976DC experienced. Yes you deal with real human beings who really know what they are doing. They were truly sorry for the level of service I had received elsewhere,as they saw it as a slight on good insurers, but they had heard the tale numerous times before. A huge thumbs up for Ducati insurance, staff have been there for a few years and get to know you by name. They deserve our praise and support,if their quote is a bit more than the cheapest bunch of idiots I do not have a problem paying for the vastly superior service. You get what you pay for stands true .
Just been trawling about a bit for insurance as it's due at the end of the month. So far Ducati Insurance have come in at £366 and MCE at £311 (slight difference in XS). Now waiting for Carole Nash (who I've been with for years) to come back to me
Carol Nash were smooth as silk when I called. Bit more money than my previous but they dont want a copy of my license. As my 'paper license' still has my old address I had issues. I refuse to get a photo license. Its an ID card through the back door. Bollox to that until its mandatory in 2015. I was with BeWiser and they were okay as brokers but the insurer was a turd.
I've been with Carole Nash for about 20 years. Every time I think I'm gonna have to change they always come up with a deal. I'll find out tomorrow as my best mans sister who works for them is going to call me in the morning
Well CN came good, as I knew they would. Only £3 more than MCE but worth it not having to frig about with paperwork etc. Job jobbed till next year
