Had the screen off tonight to check out why the satnav holds is vibrating, and give it a good clean from yesterday (htf do bugs get underneath?!) and couldn't help but admire the quality of fit. You have to love the attention to detail...

  2. I agree. Modern Dukes are generally a thing of beauty. My M900 from the late 90s was built by monkeys and made of cheese. It’s design was lovely.

Maybe it’s the VAG group input on quality control and technology?

But I love the design and finish of my DVT. I love the sound. It’s so much bloody fun, even a city commute feels like a special event.

  3. I suspect that Bradders was being sarcastic.

Bradders, could you please hold up a sign next time? :p

  4. Except, as you can see in the pic, nothing lines up lol.
But doesn’t matter, it’s covered by the shield :eyes:

  5. You must have very high expectations. I’ve never found bike “panel gaps” anywhere near as good as cars. So I actually think the Mutley IS well made.
Having owned a duke from the 90s these things are a revelation!

  6. It’s the consistency I was chuckling about, ie one side is perfect and the other not. And that’s how it fits all together lol

  7. You sometimes find that these panel gaps are as a result of things like headlight adjustment. The parts containing the headlights sometimes have to give and flex, and even when it doesn't seem like it's related if you work back the issues then you might find that it's a series of inter-related adjustments which end up causing a gap half-way down the bike. My

Yamaha Tracer was shocking and had a weird panel alignment anomaly which made the handle bars look like they were twisted when in fact they were not. My Yam dealer had a Yamaha technician visiting one day and I took it up with him and he went to great lengths to explain why the thing I was witnessing was completely unavoidable.

  8. If you think that's out of line @bradders try a certain dealer putting the fairing back together, my bike looked like it had been in a sideswipe

  10. First owner, can assure you its not a cat anything ;)

  11. Its had the fairing off for work, so maybe I'll stop all of and see if I can line up better. Funny thing is, from the tank, the RHS had more gaps than the left...the opposite to this LOL

  12. Ahhhhhhh!.........This explains everything :)

  13. Yeah, they probably crashed yours and bodge repaired it when they serviced it..... "Quick quick, get it back together before that bladders bloke gets back !! " :D:motorcycleduc:

  14. 2016 dvt was my first brand new bike in more than 30 years of biking. However I was absolutely disgusted with the ill fitting panels, marked tank rubber pad, missing part under the riders seat and 2 x missing bolts from the sump guard.
I think the Italian “John Wayne” QC must have been on siesta ....
After complaining to My dealer, everything got sorted in a timely fashion. The brand new tank was the most timely replacement, but all done.
    1. I question quality control but in Italy
    2. Pre delivery checks would also be in question.

Maybe I’m old fashioned, but if a jobs worth doing.....and all that.

This is all down to people’s attention to detail in production

Love the DVT though and it’s by far a top notch bike now compared to when I first took delivery.

  15. Ah but when you ride it, you don,t give a dam about panel fit. It,s just sooo lovely throbbing away, even if you cannot see the sat nav clearly. My zumo keeps loosing roads when on country lanes. Even with latest updates & i,m now wondering if it,s because it vibrates so much. If i stop it catches up but the rest of the time i have place names still showing but no roads.

  16. This is my second new bike, I’ve had it two years plus now, and yet I still find things that intrigue me as to how it would pass a QC lol

Great bike tho and nothing out there can touch it
