1200 DVT Dvt Vs Gen 1 Perplexity…

  1. I'm a bit perplexed by the DVT, albeit after just an initial test ride. In short, I found that both engine and Skyhook suspension to feel a little schizoid relative to my Öhlins/Mechatronic bike. The engine felt rather woolly and slow in response below 7k (going ballistic thereafter) and the suspension felt so plush (and a little remote) in a straight line that I didn't immediately feel the confidence to indulge in seriously committed cornering. In comparison, my bike felt more planted, engaging and responsive, but then I've had five years to get used to it and set it up. I need to go back and try again, spending a little more time on setup, but I'm not yet convinced by the DVT, despite many obvious virtues. I've certainly not removed it from my shortlist, but am not as immediately smitten as I perhaps expected. Would be interested in others' experiences in the comparison and, if they went for the DVT, what setup was needed.

If I'm not breaching forum rules, my full write-up is on my blog, at Gentlemen Hooligans: Ducati Multistrada 1200S DVT vs 1200S - would be v interested in other views.
