As in the title, I've been offered a pair of 5 spoke Dymag wheels that have a magnesium alloy hub and spokes and carbon rims. They clearly have age but look in very good condition having been stored in their original packing on a shelf for at least 6 years. I have no issues with that so my question is, has anyone used this type of wheel ? My plan would be to use them as either a backup set for my current Marchesini mag alloy road and track wheels or use them for my wets instead of the OE 748R Marchesini rims. Clearly the price has to be right but I'm very tempted. Andy
i use the same wheels on my 748 track bike, they were on my road 748r for about 4 years, made the handling so much better so i put them on my track bike, i use them as my dry wheels with d211 tyres this transformed the bike. if you get them i would strongly advise getting them crack tested by csa wheels,i belive the carbon/mag wheels are even lighter than the mag ones.
Not sure about the dymags, but I know it's recommended to crack test marchesini mags at least every 3 years. I love the look of these rims though so like you, I'd be tempted if the price was right.
