916 Early 916 Biposto Value?

  1. I haven’t decided for sure but I am pondering selling my 916 Biposto after 18 years together.

It’s a very early one first registered in March 1995, so has the classic Desmoquattro graphics and Cagiva elephant logos on some components.
I’m only the second owner having owned it since ’98 and it’s more or less immaculate; has done 36,000 miles, all original except for Termi’s and a chip but I have the original pipes and chip too.

My head says sell because I am fortunate to have a few bikes so haven’t really used it for the last few years and maybe it’s time for someone else to take pleasure from it. I find I can use 3 bikes regularly - a modern Multistrada, a classic 70’s Suzuki, and a maxi-scooter (don’t laugh) that I use for bad weather commuting and running errands, but struggle to use more than 3.

But my heart says no keep it. I don’t need the money, it only really costs me tax and MOT each year as it’s on a multi-bike insurance and it’s such a lovely thing still. I’m booked for the Classic TT again this year, last year I didn’t see a single 916! Maybe one last outing if I can endure the 6 hours of boring motorway on it to Liverpool?

    Third world problems eh!
If I do decide to go the sell route any thoughts on value?

  2. id say around the 6k mark for a biposto if its mint.

  3. There was at least 1 more there, albeit a later '98 version and it will be there again this year.
If you want to see 3 together I know there's a 996 that lives in Glenvine.

If the reason you don't ride it is because you don't enjoy riding it, then it is time to sell.
