  1. received back my fairing today from Steve @ Apache paints. havent had time to have a good look yet but it looks sweet. had all the stone chips sorted, and a minor crack in the nose cone which was hidden under the original whiteboard. have now got a painted whiteboard which looks sweet.
paint is still soft apparently so been advised to leave it to harden a little over next day or so before fitting it all back together. only downside is that the bike is now sorn for winter!

  2. Moved to 916

  3. looks tidy...keep it in a warm room for a few days and left the paint go off...i bet it still smells of fumes?

  4. Not so bad but its going to be left a week and ill start on it next weekend. No rush as I cant ride it now anyway. Roll on spring!

  5. people slate the yellow, but i think it looks cool...get some pics up when she's got her knickers back on!

  6. will do. hopefully next weekend. have sprayed silver the mesh bits which need refixing into the panels now. not 100% sure what to use, maybe a glue gun to spot hold them into place?

  7. Silicon will hold it and be flexible enough not to break.

  8. was thinking clear silicone but might get affected by water etc eventually.

  9. No, it'll be fine. I've used it on fenda extendas without them failing, and they're constantly bombarded with water and muck.

  10. I've used silicone on mine. The originals were put in with glue and it melted, silicone doesn't.

  11. silicon is a great idea..i meshed the vents on my 916 and re did the ones in the seats with a hot glue gun, but a couple of them have become loose over the years, so it sounds like silicon is the way to go..
would clear bathroom sealant hold it??

  12. As long as parts are clean and dry (and de greased) then its perfect.

  13. i use black RTV in the workshop all the time for bonding, sealing if you want an alternativ mask up and brush it on very neat.

  14. ty for replies. paint is too soft to do owt with panels yet, gonna leave em a couple weeks to be safe.

  15. better safe than sorry chris..have you got them in the house? they'll cure faster in the warm...

  16. have brought a few indoors tonight, missus less than chuffed lol.

  17. gonna be a long bloomin winter, missing the beasty already! still undecided as to if it needs turning over occasionally on starter while stored over winter. garage is nice n dry. i tend to leave my kit car alone and not start it at all. belts will be swapped anyway next spring as they are due on age rather than miles, so i might just turn it over to move the belts once every couple months?

  18. i can smell the paint fumes from here Chris...anyway, ask your missus.."you DO want me to be happy dont you??"..besides, youve just paid a pretty penny to get them done..dont want them buggered up now do you?
On the starting the bike front, i personally would just leave it on an optimate, chuck a blanket over her and leave it...i think starting does more harm than good...causes condensation and all the rest of it...Its only for a few months, come March she'll be ready to take her nightie off and get her clothes back on again....
