Hi, could somebody please advise me where the earth lead terminates on the chassis of a 1996 916. I stripped mine a long time ago, but upon rebuilding no photos show where it bolts too; it looks to head rear toward the rear brake master. The cable is part of the bundle or wires to the left of the battery tray. Cheers Jut
From what I remember it goes under the rear engine mount, loops back over it to mount on top of the gear box. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but even though I've not had trouble I'm told there's a better place or cabling to make starting easier.
Thanks guys, appreciate that. No doubt I'll get stuck on a few other electrical fixings. I took loads of photo's, just not necessarily the one's i need....
Use the correct screw to ground it properly it's a bit of an odd size on the Ducati. I think it's about an 8mm but has a large head. No doubt someone can confirm this correctly.
here is a pic of maybe why i couldn't see it ! When the engine was rebuilt i had the crank cases vapour blasted and sprayed, i guess they left the masking on - difficult to see in the flesh, especially when the fluid reservoir is in the way. Thanks for the pic of the screw, i had taken a pic of the 8mm's i have left, thankfully that was one of them. BTW, 8mm on the rear disc? You takin the pee?
I have this screw in stainless and it's worth using something that doesn't corrode as they can be really difficult to get out when they do.
