Ecu Custom Mapping

  1. Hi all.

Hope this finds you all well.

can I ask, theoretically speaking ofcourse, if one has their ecu mapped, not for increased power but better running especially at very low rpm, should it be notified as a change to insurance company?

  2. You know you are required to inform your insurance of any modification, as to whether they would know a bike had a modified ECU is IMO unlikely. How would they test such a thing and in what way would they become suspicious that it had?

  3. IME with after market exhausts, the Broker’s conversation with the Underwriter came back ‘if it adds less than 5hp (peak), not a problem’. I have always discussed modifications with the broker as I don’t want to be left high and dry if the insurance vehicle adjuster picks up anything non OE. Worst case so far is the aftermarket part won’t be replaced so all the more reason to keep the OE parts. Andy
