no i dont mean "out" or Jorge style "down",, but resting on your tanks ( 749 / 999 types in particular, but maybe also applicable to other sports types ),,, do you rest your chin / chest on your arm when just cruising... what speeds do you think it is adviseable to put both hands back on the grips,, i find it quite comfortable up into the 8s
I have a 999, but I am having a hard time understanding this post. What do you mean, exactly? I can't imagine having my chin on my arm. If I was chin to the tank, I think I'd like both hands on the grips.
just put your left arm on the tank, takes a lot of the weight off the arms, can even rest my head on it,,, not ideal if there are twisties , but ok otherwise.
i think he means elbow joint and forearm resting flat across the tank , at 90 degrees to the (usual) direction of travel.
The only problem I have is with my neck at low speeds, from the effort of keeping my head up while leaning forward. A lightweight carbon helmet helped but I still find myself sitting up with just fingertips on the throttle, while low speed tootling. Arm on the tank would make this worse I reckon.
on a serious note - yes I find my self resting my arm across the tank from time to time or have my LEFT Hand resting on the edge of the tank
Working on this. , managed to get my elbow. In contact with my knee the other day. ( Long long corner ) not sure if this is progress or not !!! )
How did you guess ,,,,,,,,,,,, i had to go right round because i was too slow at getting up and over the other side of the bike !!! And missed my exit !!!!
When I got tired while riding I would rest my left arm on the tank just to give my arm a rest It's hard resting the right hand as I slowed down and nearly fell off The only time my chin rested on the tank was on the motorway tucked into the windshield :Angelic:
My early 60s triumph had a thumbscrew on the twist grip, so you could lock it at any given speed, like a super-crude cruise control. Never felt the urge to use it though - lethal or what??
Heh. An old mate of mine had a Honda CB500T with a sticky throttle. It enabled him to take both hands off the bars, turn around and pummel the pillion rider, a mutual friend. Now that's lethal!
