Hey, sorry maybe a dumb question... but I wanted to work on replacing all the wiring in my 999. It's a 2005 bike and I'm sure it could use a refresh of cables, sure some might be breaking and what not. Question: what would it cost on average? (not looking to replace the dash or ECU or anything, as those work fine, just all the connecting cables. Also, what am I looking for in terms of name for them? any links you guys have on ebay or such? Especially interested in replacing the cables that connect to the battery, as these really need changed I think, but no idea what to call those and having a hard time finding them online. Thanks
I can't really help but if replacing general wiring (not the battery cables) I'd use Thinwall, it carries a higher current for a given CSA you can get this stuff from most Auto Electrical suppliers. AES for instance Welcome to Auto Electric Supplies
Plenty of looms on ebay, plus if you look lower down you will see the upgraded battery cables ducati 999 loom | eBay
what are you looking to do with the wiring harness? is it a case of improving what is there or just updating everything and the connectors? you can go mental and spend a lot of wiring on harness stuff so its probably best to just get sorted in your head exactly where you want the boundries. Also on a 2005 bike is the harness that far gone that you need to look to change parts of it?
I upgraded the starting circuit cables on my 999 with a kit from the US. It has transformed the way my bike starts. Bad news is that the kit is rather expensive by the time you've paid all the import expenses. Good news is that @Exige on here is developing similar if not better quality kits made in the UK. Even better news is that he is starting with 999 kits I would tend to agree in not seeing the need for replacing the entire loom though.
