Electronic Rev Counter For A 900 Monster

Discussion in 'Wanted' started by HairyWolfhound, May 23, 2014.

  1. My 1995 900 SS was fitted with a 900 monster engine by a previous owner and hence the mechanical rev counter has nothing to drive it, I'm looking for a nice, white faced Veglia electronic rev counter, 80mm diameter housing that will hopefully work of the ignition coil pulses. Thanks.

  3. Not bad dad. If it was about £100 less. She's a bit of a dog hence I'm not wanting to spend too much.
Might be better swapping engines with someone!

This is cheap and looks it, plus wrong rev range unfortunately.

Wonder if any off the newer Ducati models tachos would work? Or any other twins.

    Does anybody know?

    Thanks.

  4. Nice website, always liked the TT2 stuff.

  5. Depending on which engine and heads, you might be able to fit a mechanical one, but I would need to see a pic of your engine where the front cylinder belt cover is.......just above the 'top' of the cover near the front......

  9. Saved you the bother of pics...............Have a look at this one..........

Is there anything where the brass bit is, like a blanking plate with what should be a single screw?.

  10. Thanks Al, just went out to the shed, no nothing, just cyl head casting. I'll get some pics up tomorrow, cheers.

  11. Unless you have something there, or you are a brilliant engineer, go electronic...........that's the tacho drive take-off.......

Driven from the cam (worm gear between two bearings on the cam........you will have a spacer, I reckon), which drives a vertical pinion into which the cable is connected......

I have seen three monsters with mechanical drive tachos........so I guessed SS heads been fitted......or did some monsters have the SS engine???? I dunno.........

  12. Ok, thanks, think ill have to go electronic then.
Emailed Paul, he's trying to get hold of the manufacturer of his screen, (cross threading going on there).
    Take care,
    Neil.

  13. Oh well, it was worth a thought.............
