My steering lock went to God over the last few weeks. The claws that picked up the signal when the bars were moved to full lock died. Ducati has written new code overwriting that operation. Works a treat. Turn off, bars to full lock, hold down red ignition slider and you get "red button operation error" flashing in the circle of truth. 5 seconds-bingo, out shoots the pin. Done. Took all of 3 minutes to flash the beast with the new code. Happy days.
I've now got this update on mine. The steering lock works now, but the operating sequence is no longer as described in the manual.
True but it's a workaround that works Pete. I can live with it..and I'm a terribly anal bloke (no longer same as the manual :-( I was astonished at how quick the upgrade was done. I'm showing my age of course with that observation. Back in my day......
Not being as per the manual is no problem at all for me. I was thinking of a recent road test where the journalist had a long cold ride because he couldn't work out how to operate the heated grips; it's not very intuitive, but eventually he read the manual and worked it out. With the new steering lock software, a confused journalist or a new owner wouldn't even be able to do that ....
Reviving this thread, mine should have had all patches installed but does not do this. 2010 touring with a steering lock that will not work but this workaround is not working either. Holding it down states Red switch not released but nothing happens with the locking pin
