so I’ve had the 749 now about 2 weeks only had a chance to ride it twice, last ride out about 50miles and the engine light came on, not flashing but still on then it went off then it n again! I got it from a dealership 180miles away and their policy is I have to get it back to them for warranty issues but they’ve agreed to collect it as the purchase/delivery/service has been terrible so far. My question is do I let them take it back and potentially have me over a barrel to get it back or do I try and rectify it myself?
What dealer did you get it from? It is quite likely someone on here will know who they are and if they are reliable and competent or not.
I would perhaps start a thread on here asking people for the knowledge of Ritebike but I would also make sure any communication with them is on email so there is trace of what they say they are going to do for you and hopefully some sort of time frame as well. An alternative is to find a local independent from the list on the forum and maybe ask them to have a look at your bike and report back to you before letting Ritebike collect.
They buy cheap and sell cheap so you can get a bargain (I have twice) but if thinks go wrong I have heard their after sales match their business model
Could be the ignition relay causing the error, especially if it's clearing. It's about a fiver. Worth changing it and cleaning up the terminal block before getting wrapped up in trying to get them to sort it...
To be fair the bike itself is better than I’d hoped, it only had one key and not the red one but I’ve luckily found a company that can clone Ducati keys so I now have 3. I purchased the bike and it took a month to come because it had a fault with the clocks, I only found this out when I called them asking where it was, not once have they called me, they said it had been serviced/MOT’d/belts done but when it eventually turned up it wasn’t MOT’d and no stamp in the service book, I booked it in locally for an MOT and they paid for it however when I went to pick it up they’d paid for someone else’s Ducati not mine!! (Not their fault) I sent the service book back and it’s taken over two weeks to come back it arrived this morning and to top it all off the engine light came on! With all that in mind I’m a bit concerned about sending it back I don’t know when I’ll see it again! I’m thinking about just taking it to my local Ducati dealers and biting the bullet!
