Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by postmaster, May 26, 2017.

  1. Home on a low loader again.
Nice evening so off to Hunstanton for fish and chips.
Eobd light came on with a mile to go but bike running fine.
Time for home and it wont start. Fuel pump primes everything is normal but the starter is dead.
Error code 19.2 starter solenoid earth fault.
Its to late for me to look into it tonight so will do some research and take fairings of tomorrow
but just wondered if anyone on here has any experience of this.
Oh and the horn wont work - coincidence or are the two connected?

  2. Relay??

  3. Had the exact same symptoms.
Check the 20A fuse on the starter/horn/stop lamp circuit. If it is blown then you have a malfunctioning microswitch on the brake hand lever.

  4. Thanks guys, will check them out later today.

  5. @Loz Your right it is the 20amp fuse.
However operation of either brake blows it again.
Solenoid shot ? can it be tested?
    Please god not the ecu!!!!

  6. disconnect the rear light unit and try again

  7. Either brake blows the Fuse? That suggests a short in the starter - horn - stop light circuit. Start removing stuff - horn, rear light cluster, anything else you can think of. Good luck tracking down the cause.

  8. Back at work now, will try all your suggestions later
    Thanks

  9. @finm Spot on mate.
Disconnected at exit from pipe and no probs.
Pushed paper clips into pin holes and tested each for continuity.
There it was-dead short to earth on brake light.
Turns out the wires were chaffing at the point where they enter the pipe.
Many thanks to all who responded
