Eugene Laverty on a MotoGP Ducati for 2014?

  1. Ducati's full 2014 MotoGP line-up is yet to be confirmed, but sources in the Phillip Island paddock have suggested there could be three factory machines plus one 'open' (privateer) class entry.

Two of the factory machines will go to confirmed official team riders Cal Crutchlow and Andrea Dovizioso, with Italian rookie Andrea Iannone set to continue at the satellite Pramac team. However instead of running a second factory-specification bike, Pramac may enter a privateer spec Ducati - essentially this year's Desmosedici fitted with the full standard ECU system.

The bike would therefore be eligible for twelve instead of five engine changes for the season, four litres of extra fuel per race and the softer rear tyre. Hotly linked to the second Pramac seat is Aprilia WSBK star Eugene Laverty, whose brother Michael races in MotoGP with PBM.

This then leads to speculation with Yonny Hernandez who is currently riding the second Pramac bike, in place of the injured Ben Spies.
