Evel Kneivel Live

  1. i guess it’s sort of bike sport :thinkingface:

    Travis Pastrana is recreating three of Evel Kneivel’s jumps in Vegas tonight. Not on live here but highlights on the History channel tomorrow (Monday 9th) night at 9pm.

  5. I’m sure it will look impressive but the cynic in me says that unless he’s doing it on the same kind of bike with the same kind of kit then it really doesn’t bare comparison. Evel was a one-off.

  6. I’ve just seen one of the jumps on-line. With 40+ years of bike, kit and ramp development and 40+ years of accumulated stunt-industry knowledge, Travis just made it look too easy and safe so it lacked the thrill of a sense of danger and risk.

    Nice tribute though.

  7. Different era, different challenges... such as half the stopping distance Knievel had for the fountain jump.

    Anyway, I expect Pastrana had a sense of danger and risk even if all the viewers didn’t.

  8. Pastrana is amazing. The Vegas stunt was OK. Watch his old vids on Nitro Circus or X games to see the best stunts.

  10. At least he did it on a crappy american bike . I was expecting him to do it on a crosser . Hats off to him .

  11. Travis took it next level with back flips if I remember right, but did so with foam pits.

    Go back before him, Metal Mulisah you see less polished freestyle MX.

    Then there was Seth Enslow perhaps a bit of a tool, did some pretty silly stuff on a bike. Unlike Evil K, his bike was perhaps better suited, although his jumps might have been bigger? Defo not all properly calculated.

  14. I lent a mate a "crusty daemons of dirt" VHS many years back and he took to uni and left on the side. A girl in the shared house sported the spine and said "don't leave your porn lying about!". "What exactly do you think I'm in too?!?!?" Was his reply.
