I've search threads but cant seem to find an answer.... well, not within 5 minutes anyway I'm after a tail tidy that will work with the top box and/or panniers and all i keep reading about is the Rizoma one, I'm afraid that's too pricey for me and have always had Evotech or R&G in the past (prefer Evotech) So am I correct in assuming that both the R&G or Evotech will indeed fit with panniers & the Top box as long as I fit smaller LED indicators? Or do they still foul the top box supporting bracket? Also if you have either fitted would you kindly tell me which indicators you have fitted and whether they need resistors. Thanks chaps
Or, there's this one - Tail Tidy Ducati Multistrada 1200 10-13 now this looks to me that it'd work well if I went with an integrated rear led tail light as you can drop the stock turn signal brackets all together . anybody?
If you search multistrada tail tidy in google there are some images of different options, integrated tail light is prob neatest option, but not sure how they work out at MOT time, I seem to recall some rule on indicator spacing and positioning ? Interesting question about resisters tho, with front being led but rear a bulb, in fancy some led ones that have a brake light incorporated, same resister dilemma
I've googled it a fair amount of times and generally ended up going through page upon page from ducati.ms site. i get it that most tail tidys don't work with panniers IF you fit the stock indicators, but 'some' seem to be ok if you fit led indicators. However I can't seem to find much on whether the top box support bar then becomes an issue, like you I think the only sure fire route is to get an integrated rear led tail light but I figured there's enough Multis on here to suggest some must have gone for the non rizoma route and still fitted a top box
The mini indicators look naff, integrated rear light is the way I would go if I was doing it, but would check MOT requirements
I don't believe there is a specific fail on an MOT for integrated rear lights (yet) recently had my R1 MOT'd and that has an integrated tail light and as far as the tester was concerned until he had a specific memo saying they were a fail he'd continue to pass them all could change but even if it did you'd only have to wire them up once a year
This tail tidy from Germany looks to be the same sort of thing as the rizoma one, the bracket can be angled accordingly and as mentioned those side tabs for indicator mounts can be removed completely if you decide to go integrated tail led. Ive just measured underneath the tail of the multi with the top box bracket in place, if measured directly across the two bolts nearest the end of the bike I'm getting circa 23cm but that doesn't allow for the tail tidy dropping down a bit so I'd guess this might fit. anybody care to chirp in with the same measurement on the Evotech or R&G?
According to law they are illegal as they would not meet the minimum required dimensions, guess it's same as noisy exhausts, if you have a good MOT tester may not be bothered or as you say put stalks back on for test. Road Vehicle Lighting Regs (ii)Minimum separation distance between indicators on opposite sides of a vehicle– (B)A solo motor bicycle having an engine exceeding 50 cc and first used on or after 1st April 1986– (1)Front indicators: 300 mm (2)Rear indicators: 240 mm (C)A solo motor bicycle having an engine not exceeding 50 cc and first used on or after 1st April 1986 and a pedal cycle– (1)Front indicators: 240 mm (2)Rear indicators: 180 mm
