  1. Hi All,
I fitted a set of Metzeler roadtech 01 SE before my 10 days trip to the alps back in June covered 2150 miles fully loaded with luggage and now have just got back from a 4 tour of wales with luggage 850 miles and in between I have probably done another general 500 miles and it looks to me that the tyre is toast now ball park I have done 3500 miles. Now I do ride in spirited fashion. Would you expect greater mileage ? Or too much pressure or something else. I was just expecting a little more mileage.

  2. The benefit of the superb grip of the 01SE comes with the penalty of a short life. On my 1200 Multistrada, the front tyre would last 2500 miles tops. Tyre pressures can affect the life of the tyre but IMO, touring fully loaded, you were fortunate to get the mileage you did. On my Multistrada V4, I’ve started using the Dunlop Roadsmart 4 and am getting much better wear, if marginally less confidence at the ragged edge which I think is more to do with the higher kerb weight of the Pikes Peak compared to my 1200. 3. Plus the wear is mostly in the middle, indicating being on straight(ish) roads for a decent amount of time.
This is where Conti Road Attack/Michelin Road/ Pirelli Angel come in to their own. They will still wear at contact point though.

  4. Thanks you for replies I am just going to need to buy new set tyres and now the question why ones . I must say that I really like those Metzeler excellent grip. Better start trawling the forum for ideas.
