Hey guys, Have got standard factory exhausts 93 Superlight ( stamped ducati/ little elephant etc) but they are soooo loud so was thinking they need baffles/ DB killers, would they normally come with baffles fitted ? Or are they standard like this ? Sounds weird wanting to quieten a Duc but if I'm going to work at six in the morning I can't piss the entire road off because it very quickly would. There are no holes etc in the underside of the end cans where I would expect to bolt DB killers through, hence the are they standard question. Any thoughts ? Cheers Si
Perhaps they just need re-packing?? My cans are straight through about 400mm long........they weren't that loud when the outers was were, but tinny sounding........I changed the outers to carbon and re-packed them tight, now they are deeper but even less loud!
Hey Al, They're a very deep almost burbling sound, full chat they would sound fantastic but I've gotta quieten them !! I guess it would be take outers off ( remove rivets etc) and take a look from there ? I need to do something as it would be a nick if I got stopped.
Yep....drill the rivets out..........but it is best to have the cans off the bike when doing it because sometimes the other end of the rivet can fall down into the header pipes......they might blow out when you fire the bike up again, but you don't really want them left in there! Getting the end caps out of the outer sleeve can be a sod and it is easy to dent them depending how you go about it.
I have std sl cans, very quiet! Do yours have a smaller tube in the end? Mine are full of baffling( pic to follow later) I suspect yours have been cored
my bike was rather loud when I got it not standard cans but damn loud (nice though ) on inspection when drilled the rivets out found absolutely nothing in the way of baffling
Thanks guys, mine looks nothing likE the photo, can pretty much shine a torch into the exhaust and see the link pipes !! Sounds fantastic but it's just to loud so yes they have been cored and will need re- packing, least of my problems though, see technical help thread.
