Exhaust Question

  1. I've heard that people have tried using the 1199 exhaust on the v-twin engine ducati's with no luck.
I was wondering if it is possible as the RC8 is a twin with an 1199 style system.

  2. The KTM and Aprillia v twin engines are a different configuration to the Ducati L twin so the 1199 exhaust will need major modification to make it fit other makes if that is what you meant. Andy

  3. Ah no, I meant in terms of getting a ducati engine to run properly with an rc8/1199 style of exhaust

  4. You mean an underslung system?

I guess this configuration can work on any engine provided the system has been designed and tuned for that engine. But they'll be no more interchangable between different engine makes and designs than would any other type of system.

  5. Yeah, the one that sits at the rear of the bellypan

  6. Those systems are in essence no different from any other design which consists of two cans, two headers and a link pipe except that they have been cleverly formed and folded so that the entire system sits under the engine to lower the centre of gravity and maximise cornering clearance.
