just after a bit of advice. My twin spark multi had to go back to dealer as it was hesitating and the fault was a corroded coil I think they said. Anyway the exhaust valve was also corroded and as preventative measure have disconnected the valve which they often disconnect as it at some point it will stick and they will disconnect it. On my model there is no error code so disconnecting it causes no issues at all and they wouldn't even look when it comes to trading in the bike. That said they said that they would submit a warranty claim and replace under warranty but Think its not needed as it would corrode again and valve stick and is a waste of an exhaust. NowI'm going to change it this year I think anyway and thinking that surely a new exhaust and no corrosion as not used over winter would be better and would be worth changing it. What do you think ? I'm a bit unsure whether to bother or not as dealer was more than happy to change it but was insistent it wasn't worth it. Phil
Seized EXBV's were a PIA for any Triumph Daytona 675 owner. With ECU MIL's and power loss. In the end I disabled the thing in the ECU, locked the valve in the wide open position and removed the motor. However, with regular maintenance the valve can be kept free HOW TO: Free a Seized EXUP Valve - Triumph675.Net Forums When I got my 1198 the EXBV motor and cables got consigned to the parts bin.
Phil, It isn't worth replacing the valve as it doesn't do much except cause grief. However, I'd let them replace it anyway as a corrosion free ex valve will be a extra bargaining chip when selling.
Teach Ducati a lesson, insist that it is changed together with the cable. Then grease the mechanism after every ride, like you would a chain. Perhaps then Ducati will realise that a decent finish on fixings and such like costs them money when they skimp. Keep an eye out for the led glimmer on the speedo, that's a £700+ repair.
Thanks. You all seem to be thinking the same as me and to tell them to replace it. I can see the dealers point but at the end of the day there shouldn't be corrosion setting in and solution should be to remove the valve. I think I slredy have the led glimmer. Every now and agin going over a bump a red led circle flashed around display
They are going to submit claim on Monday so will have to wait another week or so for bike back. Strange not having a working bike in garage as my zx6r is in the garage getting service and some parts sprayed.
