848 Exhausts!

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by gcon45, Jan 29, 2016.

  1. I've been debating over which slip on exhausts to go with for my 2013 848 Evo since I bought it.

The obvious choice would be the Termignoni carbon slip ons with the ECU and filter, which will be around £1300 new from Ducati (or around £750 second hand).

I really like the look of the Akrapovic carbon system but there doesn't seem to be much feedback on how it sounds / performs as there doesn't seem to be many owners around.
Also - can you run this system without affecting the mapping / filter?

The TOCE system looks great IMO but I read something on here about fitment not be in great plus there doesn't seem to be any way of fitting Db killers so it would be out as I plan on doing track days, which are limited to 105Db.

Any other ideas / suggestions welcome!

  2. Another option not to rule out would be zards. They look good and sound awesome. Akras also and better build quality that the termis.

  3. Toce are way too loud. End of!
I had the termis with the ECU and that was great. One thing I always hated about my 848 was that weird rev cut in that happens in 1st of you drop the clutch too fast. I love the look of the akrapovic exhausts so would probably opt for them and get it remapped. That way while they were remapping, they could maybe turn off that 1st gear limiter thing.

Anyway, no more 848 for me but if I did it all again that's what I'd do.

  4. I have akrapovic carbon end cans on my 1198 ... look great and sound awesome, sales blog apparently says you dont need to remap .... however i flashed my ecu with the race can only map

  5. Thanks for the replies.

I'm leaning towards the Akra slip ons if I'm honest. Listened to a few clips of them on YouTube and whilst it's difficult to get a true reflection of what they sound like, you get a good idea.

Would like to know if they're definitely 'plug and play' or not though.

  6. Try Pipe Werx as per my avatar....awesome

  9. Next question; what are the options to eliminate the exhaust servo function?

If you remove all the components is there a servo buddy you can plug in to fool the ECU into thinking the servo is still fitted?

  10. They probably haven't changed servo design in a while so I would hazard a guess some of the other models adapter should do the job.

  11. Healtech have a servo buddy; I fitted one to my bike.

  12. Two posts on my blog with pictures HERE and HERE.

  13. Disable the EXBV in the ECU, sorted. Cables and motor consigned to parts bin.

  14. Nice. How much if you don't mind me asking?

I have them and are curious. Was out today without earplugs and they sound awesome going through central London at 6000 ish rpm.

  15. My question was at gcon, buggered up the quote [emoji3]

  16. Got them for £850 mate.

  17. I have an 848 Race exhaust ECU that I don't need.
    Yours for the right price.

  18. Thanks for the offer but I've looked into it and Akra developed these slip ons to work without any changes to the fueling so a race ECU would be overkill for me.

  19. Removed the servo and cabling tonight and fitted a Healtech servo eliminator.

That M8 bolt on the inside of the frame that holds the wee bracket for the servo cables was awkward. I could only get at it with the tip of my M8 open ended spanner past the rear shock and move it in increments. Took me about 20 minutes just to undo it!

All ready for the Akrapovics now!

  20. Good heads up on the servo and cabling, cheers for that. That's my next job. Also going with the Healtech as I've used their stuff before and always been impressed. Just had my ECU flashed to match the Termi slipons so looking forward to seeing what that's like. Also looking to get the 14T front sprocket fitted in the next couple of weeks.
