V4 V4s Build - From Start To Finish
I've been noticeably (or more likely not) absent on here due in part to a number of reasons, including a house move, family bereavement, spinal surgery and a host of other things, but since a good few people have commented on a lack of communication from me recently (as a result of said life events), I have decided to run a timeline thread on the V4S Unica build I started way back in 2018. I will try and run it in some sort of chronological order, that mimics what I set out to achieve on book of face, so as you can see the progress of the build for yourselves as it moves through each stage.
This will be a picture heavy thread so I make no apologies for that, other than if you don't want to wade through them all then move along. I will try and upload an update daily, but that all depends on work commitments, so please don't flame me if things don't appear when you might expect them to. The first installment will begin tomorrow as I am on the back end of a 12 hour shift at work,... -
916 Pictures Of All 748/9**
Hi I’ve seen one on the panigale section but not one here (I apologise if there is one and I’ve missed it) but how about a thread of our favourite pictures etc of our 748’s/9**’s. -
Exclusive Pics: New V4 Panigale Successor!! In-moto Magazine
IN-MOTO magazine, published today in Italy, have released some spy shots of the new V4 Panigale replacement, set for it's unveiling launch at EICMA in November 2017. I managed to obtain an electronic copy from a relative this evening. The photos were taken recently at Mugello where Ducati were undergoing some preliminary testing of the new V4 engine. The bodywork is clearly that of the Panigale 1299, albeit crudely modified for the powerplant, so this is doubtless a test mule, and is loaded with datalogging equipment. Further testing (where the bike will be more representative of the finished model, will probably take place at Nardo, as it's less susceptible to journalists with long lenses. I have endeavoured to translate the accompanying article into reasonable English (not Google Translate), which is shown below the pictures. For now here are the images.
Most noticeable is the side mounted shock has been relocated, yet it still retains a SSA and the exhaust has two outlets per... -
First Ducati, My Childhood Poster Bike!
Firstly hi to everyone, I wasn’t in the market for a 916 as I honestly thought they were becoming out of my reach price wise, but when this came up I had to have it. The price was too good.
sadly it has after market fairings, but the rest of it is all there, my plan is to make it as close to original as poss, engine out full frame paint new genuine bolts so it looks right. And a few small upgrades.
I Managed to get the original rear wheel with it too, have begun stripping it down and I am going to start by getting a paint match I’m happy with for the frame and wheels. I am lucky enough to be in that line of work so it should be easy enough.
so far I have removed the faring, Headlight bucket and supports off and stripped back to bare metal. The subframe is now off and at work that’s next for stripping once I have the colour. All new bolts, washers, anti-vibration mounts ordered to try make a nice job of it. -
New Bike: Gsxr1000r (the Gixxer Thread)
Evening all,
Took the plunge on a 20’ Gsxr 1000r.
The deals that are being done on them are beyond ridiculous at the moment. So much bike for the money.
I did contemplate the new gen 4 bmw but after riding one and hearing about the issues with them and the sheer costs involved if I want to make it a race bike, not to mention the purchasing costs put me off. So for me this was the best balanced decision. The bmw is a bit better as stock but it isn’t enough better to warrant the costs ! Money no object id consider one but the build costs are eye watering !!
I could build this to full superstock spec and beyond for the same costs as a M sport bmw. And there’s no contest at that point which is the better bike.
first outing on the bike is at Donington at the end of the month as I’m instructing there - hoping to pick the bike up next week.
only mods to begin with will be the master cylinder as the stock one is absolutely shite so I’m replacing that with a Brembo corsacorta as well... -

Escaped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The marvellous and somewhat fabulous Miss Ducbird is currently residing in hospital as from today, which could be for as long as 6 weeks, taking us up until Christmas before we see her escape back to her family.
Although she is as hard as Nails I felt a little support thread for this major stage in her recovery would hopefully help a little
Maybe she will check in an give us updates, and we can support her when she gets a little fed up!
Even I will try and keep on topic too (but here's a picture of my new little Yam again...)
Only joking: over to the DF Army -
New Ducati Service / Diagnostics Software & Adapter For Diy Servicing
It has been a long development process to put this all together. A two-man-show, me doing the hardware side (PCB prototyping, component assembly, testing), my brother (he is C++ programmer) working on software side of this project in about 6 month span. After several hours (clocking about +200h of personal time) and countless £££ spent on PCB board revisions, ECU models, components and prototype mistakes we have finally finished this into viable functional adapter. I would like to proudly present my contribution to the DIY servicing of your Ducati Motorcycle: A completely new design of Diagnostics/Service adapter for the shadetree / garage mechanic.
It all started after huge frustration of getting all of those OBD adapters to work. In my case and also in a case for many of my friends, I could not get to work all of those blue/silver/black OBD Vagcom adapters that you can buy online on Ebay/Amazon/etc with available free DucatiDiag software. Also, available bluetooth adapters did...mfurore Feb 29, 2016 Parts, Accessories & Clothing For Sale Read More Views: 60,753 Likes: 20 Replies: 163 -

Welcome to the new look Ducati Forum
So it looks a bit different - yep!
We've moved from vBulletin 4 to Xenforo for the forum. Basically for a few reasons, mainly because it was no longer supported and their new version was not very good at all.
This forum has a lot more features, is easier to use, works better on mobile and is a lot quicker.
There will be a few things missing until I get round to activating them - if you notice anything please use this thread to highlight it.
I'll post some things here that you might find useful.
Firstly, uploading pictures is much easier. You can drag a picture into the text editor and it will automatically upload. Give it a go
Hover over a post and you'll notice a lot more options to like and rate posts. They appear at the bottom right of each post.
Private messages are now called conversations. They are easier to read, especially when they get long.
Check out the Gallery from the tabs at the top of the forum. It's really powerful. You can upload unlimited pictures,... -

Project 999
Last Thursday I collected my latest project from a fellow forum member.
A 2005 MkII Ducati 999. Believed to be a Biposto ‘S’ Variant.
I’ve been looking for a project 999 for ages, and had given up, but isn’t that always the way.
It was good to meet you @matapaca, I’m really pleased with it.
It joined my M1000 and 1000SS/900SL in my workshop, and the various loose parts have been stored.
It started and ticked over OK when I collected it, but I won’t be starting it again until I change the belts, Oil and filters.
The overall aim is to produce a bike I can enjoy rebuilding, tinkering with, and using on the road.
I don’t want a spotless, perfect cosmetically bike that I’m afraid to use, but it must be mechanically as good as I can get it.
Importantly it’s my first ‘modern generation’ Ducati with twin cams, water cooling etc, so I’m going to learn a lot.
For example I can change the cambelts on my 2-valve aircooled bikes easily in under an hour, but haven’t done a 4 valve twin Cam... -
998 Finally Got To Ride Her...
Got down to the bike shop late afternoon after a 12 hr shift down in Birmingham.
Paid up, sorted the docs out, jumped on the bike and rode off. They forewarned me that there was little fuel in it so headed straight to the petrol station.
It felt shite so after filling up I checked the tire pressures. Needed another 12 in the front and 4 in the rear. That's all it needed to feel right enough. After that I began to enjoy it more and more and to be honest, didn't find it any more uncomfortable than the 848 it replaced.
I think as soon as I get some new tires on and a few other bits that need sorting out, I'll have myself a mint bike! -
Sam1199's Story - "just Popping Out On My Bike" - Something We'd All Love To Do!
GETTING READY FOR THE OFF
Four weeks after a surgeon had taken his knife out of my nuts and another surgeon had cut out two skin cancers from my face, I thought, what better thing to do than head to the sun on a sports bike.
Let's go to the Spanish MotoGP in Jerez. Nice ride.
Besides the operations weren't a problem, the anesthetics did their job, it was the stitches that really gave me grief. Ooh sir! Especially when it got cold.
So I took off with two tiny panniers and a Ducati Panigale S Tricolore. Who needs these BMW GS's to do these kind of trips, much more fun with a Pornygirly.
The ride down the A3 to Portsmouth was so busy it was enough to make me glad I was leaving the country. Several cars had impaled themselves in the Armco on the northbound carriageway and the southbound was bumper-to-bumper for almost all of it. It was awful. Shouldn't these people still be in work on Friday afternoon? Does the whole of England head to the south coast for the weekend?
It felt like... -

V4 An Honest Review From A Sceptic
I just want to start off by saying that I don’t buy in to ‘launch fever’. It’ll probably be noted on this forum that I’ve been fairly on the fence and sceptical about the new v4.
Anyway I’m a current 1299 owner and I have had the v4 for the day today (covering varied roads and a fair few miles) and just wanted to share my thoughts and observations of the bike, keeping to the facts and not too much opinion.
I’ll start off with the motor, which at low revs sounds a bit like a monster onboard (no bad thing). Throttle input is better than the outgoing bike and more responsive. The motor spins up very quickly and has a smoother broader range to it.
To me it feels like the v4 has more usable power for the road and is certainly far less of a handful.
As for speed, anyone who says that this bike ‘feels’ ballistically quick clearly hasn’t ridden an s1000rr or 1299 at its full pottential. It is fast, very in fact however it doesn’t have the rush that some other litre bikes have. It’s very...
