After rectifying a tired old clutch (clapped-out hub and friction plates) in my early 996, I thought I'd try these Ferodo frictions from an eBay seller: Ferodo FCD0672. At about £50 delivered its a very cheap replacement. So far excellent, a few hundred miles on it now. I built the pack up as per the Newfren instuctions that the last owner had given me. This puts the Belleville (spring) steel in first, then a steel, then alternating frictions as normal and ending in a single steel at the pressure plate. Frictions are 3.0mm thick, so dropped back to 1.5mm steels in each end and it builds up just right and slightly under 39mm. The tabs seem 'ever-so-slightly' wider to me. They were snug in my worn basket but not overly so. So its a VERY quiet clutch pack now. Hasn't let go yet, and very nice in traffic from cold and when hot. Lever action is consistent and no snatch like I had with the oem even after fixing the issues with the hub/washers. Steve
Spring in first seems a little odd. You'd think it would need to be sandwiched to give maximum benefit.
