In major sulk mood ATM. 748R build caught fire possibly due to split in a hose. Only the tank and airbox were sitting on it, no fairings, wheels etc. Cabling, plastic fittings, rubber bits all melted of course. Got it out quick enough that after some work the tank is OK. The airbox can probably be rescued but frankly I'm pretty fucked off still 3 days after.
Gutted for you,but your bloody lucky the whole thing didn't go up in flames,so ebay for some spares PDQ
Really sorry to read that but thankfully you caught it before it got too far, plastic pipes and wiring are all replaceable FYI @Paul55 was selling off 748 bits but who knows what's left and @JoeC has a 748 bitsa he's cannibalising at the moment, perhaps his airbox is redundant - if you don't go down the CFroute that is.
My air box is c/f. I am returning my 748 to close to factory spec (read stealing all the good bits), and thereafter may either track it or sell it depending on whether or not I need to buy any expensive trousers. Anyone notice the irony that hoses are normally used when putting out fires?
Could have been a crappy o-ring on the quick release fittings? Doesn't take much to put a nick in one of them mate, I've done it a couple of times. Good you got on top of it straight away!
