First Ride

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by BenK, Sep 23, 2020.

  1. Hi all,

Bit late regarding the weather but I managed to get for an hour yesterday on my bike.
First bike since test and getting used to the way it handles etc. I’ve got an 899 so it’s quite hard on the wrists and arms and shoulders to the point I was aching for the whole hour.

I wondered if anybody had advice is it just a case of manning up and building up the strength over a period of time or any tips to help the aching? I squeeze the tank with my legs which helps.
    Cheers

  2. Go faster and do not ride in traffic..

  3. Relax, that pain is tension, do chicken wings regularly to make sure your neck and shoulders are 'free' ....

  4. Blimey if you think the 899 is bad you wanna try the 848/1098/1198 ergonomics.

As @Dibble said relax and it will soon become a thing of the past

  5. Okay thank you.
I dread to think about any other bike, I mainly meant because of it being a Sports bike. First time so was anxious which wouldn’t have helped.

  7. Do some weights get your upper strength sorted out, you’ll have no bother.

  8. Relax and start thinking of 90 to 100mph as your comfy everyday speed ,
