Hi, I’m thinking about fitting in-line QR’s to the fuel lines on my 748E so that removing the tank is a tad easier. Can anyone think of a reason why I shouldn’t ? Thanks....
I did it. I'v e had the tank off a couple of times since and it make a big difference. It's a PITA trying to unscrew the hose clamps while lifting the tank. A tip, get the metal ones not the plastic ones. If you're the sort of guy who never does that sort of work I guess it doesn't matter. I got mine cheap from a guy selling his parts off.
Is the fuel pump base the same as that used on the QR equipped bikes? If so you probably just need the fittings, otherwise use in-line fittings or swap the pump base from a 916/996/998748 (non 'E').
No, the pump base on the E is different so adding in-line disconnects seemed an easier (and probably cheaper) solution than changing the pump base.
