I had a flashing spanner symbol appear on my '03 1000DS clocks today, it flashed for 5 minutes and is now solid. Obviously it's telling me something is wrong or a service visit is due. If it's flashing to show a fault is there any way to get the fault code up without taking it to a main dealer? As far as I can tell there's nowt wrong with the bike. And if it's just flashing to remind me of a service interval can I get rid of it?
From the handbook 13)Service warning. The light comes on to signal that the vehicle has covered the distance corresponding to a Scheduled Maintenance interval. The light keeps flashing until the vehicle has travelled 50 km after hitting the service interval. Then it stays on permanently. The system shall be reset by the DUCATI Authorised Service Center that has serviced the vehicle.
Nice one, cheers. I've just found out how to check for fault codes and found nothing, so it's just a case of resetting the clocks. I had the bike serviced recently, but not at a main dealer.
It comes on when the prescribed mileage has been covered. I believe it needs the DDS to reset it but it wont do any harm to leave it alone. This happens mostly when a bike is serviced early on the mileage and appears soon after as it cannot be reset like an odometer which is a pain in the nutcrackers. Just ignore it and enjoy the ride but if it does bother you give your service centre a call. I would hope they would do it for a pack of bourbons or Hobnobs at a push.
I had a secondhand set of clocks reset when mine died of condensation, so the new ones are showing only 600 miles. That'll be why the service light is flashing then.
MS 1200 - Won't work If the bike has an IAW5* family ECU then Ducatidiag will work for you. If fitted with the newer Siemens or Mitsubishi (as in the MS 1200) ECU then it won't.
