Following On From The Recent Microchip Shortages In The Automotive Industry

  1. According to my sources supplies of microchips are no longer the problem in automotive manufacturing and manufactures are building up stock levels again…….however wiring looms are, and are causing the current car and motorbike delivery backlog.

Apparently VAG/Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Ford, Toyota, Nissan etc all buy their wiring looms from the same place ………….Ukraine :bucktooth:

  2. One would hope that manufacturing wiring looms, whilst I confess it isn't probably as easy as it sounds, if far less of an issue to source from elsewhere than microchip production? I obviously feel for the Ukrainian companies, if that is the case, who will be loosing out.

  4. That one that puts all cost burden on supply and none on purchaser._

  5. I know, got a few mates in the car supply industry. But even the suppliers don’t stock that much as the cost burden to them ruins their bottom line too.

  6. No one has the cash to float the necessary inventory - with such low Margins...
