For Fin ...

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Speed_Triple, Feb 21, 2015.

  1. Really? Should I set up an argument and trolling section? Seems like your always out to wind someone up. It's getting tedious now.

  2. Not trying to wind anyone up. Just that Fin was concerned about us turning into a police state and the eroding of our freedoms and didn't see that journalists had a role in protecting us. I just thought that link proved that they are engaged in trying to fight the state's bid to increase it's powers, so it added to the discussion.
And if you think it's not important to discuss increasing police powers that threaten a free press, you are welcome to say so. Isn't that what Internet forums are all about? The airing of differing points if view and swapping of information? If they're not for that, what are they for ET?
Surely I cannot be held responsible to others' reaction my expression of wholly legitimate views? It's not as if I am saying anything that could leave me or the forum open to prosecution.

  3. Indeed you're not but I personally (and I'm not the only one) find your posts on the verge of trolling. If not downright trolling.

And yes it's good to challenge unjust things and authority on occasion but In my opinion stick to doing that in your day job. :)

  4. And I disagree. Isn't it great that we live in a society in which we can express our differences, and even our antipathy? Use it or lose it, I think, is a good expression and that applies to the freedom we often take for granted as much as anything else. If you value our way of life I don't think you can ever be accused of doing too much to protect it. Just my view, and no more or less important than anyone else's. I would also add that other forums to which I contribute seem to have far less easily offended members who are not threatened by the airing of robust views and readily engage in discussions without the need to insult.

  5. Done that one! Fin and I were talking, not arguing, about whether the police were exceeding their powers so I thought the post would be of interest to him.

  6. If Fin answers this could go on, if he doesn't he's not interested and it will Fizzle,

    Lets wait and see... :Nailbiting:

  7. live always said there should be a bollox section on any forum....

you could choose to put your post straight there, or if 3 or more vote it bollox then it gets put there......

  8. Agreed. Fin was saying that he'd detected that police were becoming more authoritative in his neck of the woods, so I thought the link added to the discussion. He's PMed me to say that he's only just got up and will look later, so it'll be interesting to see what he makes of it.

  9. Good idea, but I think more than 3 votes should be needed otherwise some people would do it for fun ;)
    @Rob possible???

  10. If this was for Fin why didn't you just pm him with the link? Just saying.....

  11. I thought the Lounge section was the bollox area!!!

  12. I did think that afterwards so I did- and he has answered to say that hell reply later. However, others were involved in our discussion too so I didn't think it right to exclude them from furthering it.

  13. i'm up for it. F.R.Police.
not long in at work so need time to wake up and digest.
and yip there is deffo different style of copering going on out here in the sticks. if it was just me then maybe for the bollox section, but it's no.

  16. I live in the sticks but don't see any difference in the policing now from a few years ago, it just seem everyone seems more sensitive or easily offended these days.

my recently retired mate understands and recognizes the recent changes are causing animosity in the local community, and tension in the back room excluding two or three bell ends as thy are just that, the style is way more aggressive,
