I think there is a couple of members that own one but not sure who, Any owners out there that could let me know how they are getting on with the RS, Main one is fuel, Urban 28.3 Extra urban 44.8 Combined 36.7 Not sure whats Extra urban, but they are Ford figures.
A friend has just bought one, and is getting around 30 mpg average. Mostly commuting on fairly open roads and motorways. with the usual round the doors stuff. Running super unleaded but in 'Sport' mode. With most cars, the 'Urban' consumption is usually the one closest to real world
I was always told if you really wanna know a cars economy, look at the urban figure, as that is the one that will closest to the true combined. This is down to all manufacturers being massive bullshitters when it comes to MPG claims. Seems pretty true with most cars I've owned ?
2.3 turbo on an rs, I wouldn't be expecting diesel figures. High 20's when pushed/around town and an average drive around the 30's/early 30's on runs might be worth a read http://www.focusrsoc.com/forums/topic/309626-1-year-of-ownership-real-world-fuel-economy/
All 911s I've had did late teens or very early 20s at best on average ??? Can sometimes scrape high 20s on a good long run. Even a focus RS will beat that...
Not likely. But you know what? I haven't a clue what my consumption figures are. The only time I play with trip computers is on long journeys (30ish) or after a jolly good thrashing (single figures). I often wonder what my bike does on track days. It must be pretty grim as I seem to be refueling every 5 minutes!
If I cane the 997 I'm around 23mpg, if I'm driving it normally I'm 28-30. On a run I'm usually nudging 35mpg if I'm doing 70mph on cruise. Reference point is my 2005 C2S with 105k on the clock. My old R53 MINI Cooper S was horrible on fuel too, hatches are quite often fairly poor on gas when you have the warm version, I've found. Focus is a cracking bit of kit, just surprised consumption is so high.
Good to hear peoples reports on fuel economy I am surprised about the Mini's, Ive liked the RS since there release, had another test drive yesterday and wow some bit of kit indeed, its just having to live with the fuel consumption as at the moment i have a diesel Kuga, which is also a great car.
The Mk1 Focus was a lovely thing to drive, and the RS of the era was a mean looking thing. Ford were on a bit of a roll at that point, the sporty Puma was a bit of fun too. They seem practically extinct now!
I know there stopping production of the RS in 2018 as the new shape Focus is coming out, I think compared to other performance cars like the RS for what you are getting for the money is very good.
Good god thats shocking, our little golf gti does nearer 45 on a run, but has averaged 35 overall since we got it in Feb, but we dont do much town driving TBF.
