999 Fork-in

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Cream_Revenge, Oct 18, 2017.

  1. Hey

Will 749s forks fit straight swap for my 999 03 BP forks? Brakes all ok, etc?

    Cheers

  2. I have a spare set off a 999 :)

  4. IIRC, 749S forks are Showa, same as '03 999 BP forks. As long as both have non-radial brake caliper arrangements, the forks themselves are a straight swap.

    I now invoke Cunningham's Law.

  5. I have some 749s forks with K-tech internals if you are interested? ;)

  9. 749S and 999base forks are identical.
749base forks are the same but chrome lowers.

  15. I put ohlins forks from a 2004 999S on my 2006 749S. The earlier 999S models use non radial brake calipers the same as the 749 which means it's a straight swap (you'll need a 56mm bottom yoke also). I managed to pick the forks and yoke up from Italy for just £560!

  19. 749s forks are Showa but with Tin treatment to the lower (internal) part, same aside from that.
